In contemporary corridors there is often a consensus of the greatness of Islam and its contributions towards knowledge, usually looking at its past, be that a millennium or five centuries ago. As the Muslim world expands in ebbs and flows with modern migration, we see that Muslims find themselves in every nook of the planet. How do we use our faith as a tool to ignite our present and influence the spaces we inhibit when the tales we hear incite outcomes of success borne from nearness to our faith and purification of our souls?
This years al-Tazkiya theme hones in on the quest for knowledge that is found in the first revealed word of ‘Iqra’, to the history of scholars, teachers, narrators and role models and pulsates forward into our present condition. The two-day online event will examine this through lectures and workshops delivered by Muslim women who continue to proudly shoulder their faith along with the practicalities of modern life.
Underlying this is a similar quest we approach our participants with: to attend, listen and, most importantly, to leave with the confidence to contribute to a future that continues in the seeking and applying of knowledge. The aim is to improve the condition of the generations to come so that when history is retold and the tales are heard, this moment and your lifetime becomes a peak for our collective struggle and a reminder of the power of purification.
